Case Study: 18thC Tortoise Veneered Clock Case

A small 18thC tortoise veneered clock case probably for the Turkish market. These before, during and after views of this 5” tall case show a new replacement shell being prepared. The carrying handle had previously been broken and badly repaired. It is shown cut up awaiting a missing section to be fitted.

After being fully dismantled, the carcass was repaired and re-veneered, with the majority of the original tortoiseshell re-laid.
